Amos Lim, Community Organizer
Amos Lim immigrated to the United States from Singapore eight years ago to be with his American partner, Mickey. Since then, Amos has been actively involved in raising awareness about the immigration struggles facing same-sex, bi-national couples. He co-founded Out4Immigration, a non-profit that works actively in the United States to educate the public about the issues of immigration inequality. In addition, Amos volunteered his time to work with the City and County of San Francisco in managing the 2007 Immigrant Rights Summit where LGBT immigration issues were raised for the first time at the city-sponsored event. He has also volunteered his time working at Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Citizenship Workshop.
Beyond his efforts to advance immigration equality, Amos has an extensive professional background in the corporate sector, having worked in business development and human resources at Meditab Software, Elmhurst Pharmacy, and Deutsche Bank AG. He is a Lieutenant in the Singapore Army and fluent in several Chinese dialects, including Mandarin, Hokkien, Teochew, and Cantonese.
Amos and his partner are looking forward to adopting a kid into their family this year.
